2003 - current: Senior Research Assistant, Queensland University of Technology

• Research, reviewing, editing, authorship and drafting for Professor Brian Fitzgerald (Head, QUT School of Law).
• Drafting submissions and responses to questions on notice related to Federal copyright legislation.
• Main research areas: open copyright licensing, commons-based peer production, governance in online spaces and virtual worlds, the intersection of contract and intellectual property law, and consumer protection, security and privacy issues.
• Researcher with the Australian Creative Commons project. Work involves adapting the licences to Australian law, and raising awareness and use of the licences in Australia.
• Involved with the new Open Access to Knowledge project at QUT, which aims to develop and adopt legal protocols for managing copyright in an open access environment.
• Created a set of innovative problem-based learning legal ethics scenarios for use both by undergraduate law students and legal practitioners for continuing legal education.

1999 – December 2004: Programmer, Consolidated Computer Services

• Designed, implemented and managed mid-sized projects.
• Implemented a complete Smart Card purchasing, movement and management system for a prison in Western Australia.
• Implemented a vehicle tracking / management system for a security company.
• Created a client/server application to collect, store and review condition, safety and water quality information on over 3,000 Australian reservoirs and aqueducts.
